Brenda - why are we not putting these discussions on your North Rim blog instead of on Older and Bolder? None of us qualify as Older and Bolder, do we? lol

Hi Andrea, Hi Mike (long time no hear from), Hi Brenda, Hi Ernie - I do remember you since I was in the HR office. Sorry you couldn't take the altitude - for me it was the attitude, lol.

Mike - Jimmy G is supposed to handle Bryce as well as the North Rim, also Sandy M is great friends with Jimmy. Might not be the place for you - or me either, for that matter! Yes, Beki did apply but won't know until January what's happening there.

Should be changes at the North Rim for next year - hopefully all for the better.

Mike, I have also thought about applying at Bryce. Several people have told me that it is small, and I would get very bored. But, this time I would bring my car. This would allow me to drive to visit Zion and some of the state parks in southern Utah. Also, Beki may be working at Bryce this summer. It would be great to work with her again.

my schedual was actually a good schedual also from 6:30 to 3:30 with 1 hr break. I origionally liked working at the store but that all changed with the change of store employees. At first I was going no where and not really doing anything but I did eventually start going on trips like that trip to Lake Powell on the houseboat and the day spent in Kanab for the western legends days. I also went to Zion NP and hit up my candy store. Went to lunches and dinners in the different places and went to Page a couple times. I did most of what I wanted and even said I was not hangin in the pub this year and I stuck to it except for a couple times. Met some really great people also and made some wonderful friends like Sharon and Reece. So the whole season wasn't bad. Oh and the 4th of July was a blast and I was drenched.

Andrea, I do remember the tough schedule you worked in the Deli. You were a very hard worker.

Andrea, I am also going to apply at Signal Mtn. and Grand Teton Lodge Co. I am not too sure that Signal Mtn. will consider me but I am going to try. I am also going to apply at Bryce.

I did have a good work schedule, 6:00am - 2:30pm, that allowed me plenty of time to do things in the evening. The only hard part was that for a good chunk of the season, those of us on the morning shift didn't have time for lunch breaks or even a ten minute break.

I am really hoping to get on the Tetons next season. My first choice is Signal Mountain, but I plan on also applying with the Grand Teton Lodge Company. I am hoping that working a season at another Forever Resorts property will help me to get on at Signal.

I did finish the season at the North Rim. I had a pretty good time overall. Now, working in the deli was not a good time. I would go back to the North Rim depending on the job I was offered. I probably wouldn't go back to work in the deli. I don't even think that I would want to stay in Food & Beverage. It was all of the things that I did outside of work that made it worthwhile. I did some hiking, some camping, several shuttle trips, and even a couple of trips to Lake Powell. The only thing I didn't get to do that I wanted to was the rim to rim hike.
