Hillary, At Paradise the employee internet access is very limited, and forget the cell phone- the closest we got reception was between Ashford and Elbe, some ten miles outside the Park's entrance. Of all the parks we've worked Rainier had the best hiking so far, and August is the best weather month. Early to mid September was also good weather the year we were there. From October to April it's not a good place to be if you like to see the sun. The Paradise Inn was completely renovated during the 2006 and 2007 seasons, and re-opened for the 2008 season. It was still closed for renovations the year we were there so we didn't get to see the inside.

Christina, thanks for the response ,I was under the impression that there wasn't internet service available to GSI employee Is this correct?
I am looking forward to hiking and hanging out reading and writing, but it would be nice to keep in touch online as well.I won't be driving in so moving around will be intresting.

Hillary - been there two times - its not any more isolated than Yellowstone. I was offered a park service job there and plan to go possibly next year. In August it was very hot; in Sept. it was raining. The lodge is old but not unlike Old Faithful at Y-stone and/or McDonald at Glacier. You should enjoy it. Keep me posted. Christina

I must like a challenge I just agreed 2mths in Mt. Rainier N.P. at Paradise Lodge working as a cashier/deli attendant. Has anyone worked there. I know it's isolated. I not sure about cell and internet.

@Connie - Try YMCA of the Rockies - http://www.coolworks.com/profile/ymca-of-the-rockies/estes-park-center - they hire gift shop staff.

Any ideas about how to get a job working retail in Estes Park next summer?

Have any of you worked at either Peaceful Valley Dude Rance(Colorado) or Red Canyon Lodge (Utah). I'd love to get some reviews! Thanks!

Hello, out there!
France is beautiful and stormy again today, and I have been looking at the work possibilities in the US. Guest ranches really seem to be the better choice, but their staffs are small. What is the secret to landing one of those jobs? And, am I really dreaming, or it is possible to be hired to travel the world like this? I admit it is hard to keep filling out the apps and have no answers! Does it happen all at once?
And..., what is the deal with Xanterra? Their site never says when the jobs start! It is a guessing game? Seems like YNP is a little clearer on their postings. Is there a mystery I have yet to understand?
It will be easier when we have done our first season, to be sure.
Happy Thursday to all!
