Thanks for being here! The six of us at CoolWorks welcome you and wish you success in finding your Jobs in Great Places®!

Hi everyone! I just recently accepted a job working for Xanterra at the Grand Canyon this summer and I am so excited! I have never worked for them before nor have I ever worked outside of Michigan. Since I am moving to Arizona from Michigan, I am wondering if anyone can help me figure out what I need to bring with me and what I should know. I also have a few specific questions if anyone can help me out, please.

They said they provide sheets for the beds so does that include a comforter type blanket or just sheets? Do I need to bring my own shower towel? I hear there are two places to live, Rouzer Hall and Colter, is one better than the other? Is there anything else I need to know to bring to any tips anyone has for me?

Is anyone else going to be working in the Grand Canyon this summer? I would love to connect with you :)

Hi Katie,

I just visited there. I'll try and get my thoughts together to do a blog post this week and include some pics. I didn't visited any of the housing, but know that it's close to the places you'd be working and oh so close to walk to the rim. Have a great time!

Hi Katie! I'm from Michigan too. I've been living and working at the south rim for 2 1/2 years now. You should probably get with a female to talk about the halls. Colter is all female and is about 50 yards from the rim. Rouzer is for both men and women and located next to the market plaza about a mile and a half from the rim. You shouldn't need any bedding but should definitely bring a couple of towels. Any questions you may have, you can contact me directly here or on fb. Good luck

Yeah, I did. Let me get my thoughts together. We thought it was really cool. You'll probably be amazed at the different amount of people compared to the North Rim. The view is just as good!
