Alright... Take a deep breath, relax. Calm yet? Good. This being your first time at the South Rim, I suspect you'll be living in the squalor that is, Victor Hall. A few things to bring would be: 1) Your clothes 2) 2-3 Towels 3) Your toiletries 4) Some flip-flops or other kind of footwear you can wear in a public shower 5) Some cash money.

I think that's all... Um, things you need to do... Depending on your method of transportation, try to arrive in Flagstaff the day before your agreement date, get a hotel/inn/whatever, if you are not driving you can book a spot on a shuttle with the Flagstaff Express.

Anymore questions? Ask.

Been here almost 4 years and I've never known anyone to have 3 roommates...so not sure where "warez" got that number. Usually you only have 1 roomie, except maybe in the Winter time if you're lucky then you could end up with a room to yourself.

As far as weather goes: yesterday was 54 degrees outside with the sun shining...it felt like Springtime. Winter can be unpredictable, last year we had tons of snow. This year we have lots of bare ground.

I was wrong, that last post was from 2002. sorry!!

This company, which employs approximately 1200 staff at Grand Canyon National Park during peak season and grosses an average of $70 million annually, was the sole bidder for this contract. The selection process for this 10-year contract for services at Grand Canyon National Park began on April 5, 2001, when the National Park Service issued a prospectus seeking offers under the new National Park Service Concession Management Improvement Act of 1998 (Public Law 105-391). A panel of technical experts in concessions management evaluated the offer, which emphasized a strong approach to environmental management issues, and found that it was responsive to the requirements of the prospectus.

It'll snow a good deal in Feb. and at random times after that, then it gets warm, Arizona style. As far as dorms; Shared room (2-3 room-mates) Community bathrooms, community room w/ TV (this is Victor hall and Victor Annex). I'm planning on getting out to GCSR this by Feb also. I'd be happy to answer anymore questions you may have.

Today NPS is coming around to do room inspections inside Xanterra's dorms. This is the first time I have heard of NPS doing that here.
Some say it is just a way for NPS to eventually get Xanterra's employees to live outside of the park.
NPS has already told the sales & Accounting staff that they have to move to Flagstaff to work in offices there starting in March 2011.

I am seriously thinking of applying at the South Rim... The people I worked with in Yellowstone last year said I would love it there.. So, I am hopeful that people in this group will fill me in on what it is like to work at the South Rim..
