Living & Working in Great Places

What's up one and all. I'm Jeff. Yo. I live in the glorious mountain town of Bozeman, Montana, only a short drive to the park. Recently, my planned summer job fell through, so I couldn't be more excited that I found this site! I just hope it's not too late.

So for Yellowstone jobs I am looking at http://www.yellowstonejobs.com/ Is this where I want to be looking? It says the spring jobs are full, but they are taking apps for late June thru the end of summer. I can start working now and keep working until the end of the season.
My questions are:
- I like to be outside. What jobs should I apply for?
-I like the Grant Village area. What are my chances of working there?
-Jobs that I'm interested in... Bell Porter, Pubtender, Cook, Employee Dining Room, General Maintenance, Bus Washer, Fly Fishing Guide, and Vending Driver. So if anyone knows anything about any of these...drop me a line please.
-I've worked in a few restaurants and love to cook, so hows the kitchen?
-Disc Golf is a fave. Which spot has the sickest course?
-Though not a priority, what should I expect to earn in a week? I understand its about location and not pay, but an idea of income would help.
-I am an outdoorsman. Long hair, beard, laid-back stylee! Will I be ok with dreads? Or will I HAVE TO get a hair cut? HOPE NOT!

Well geez that's alot of questions!!!
Please respond if you have any info for me. Hope to get a job and see you out there!

I noticed alot of discussion about fly fishing. I would love to share my knowledge with all!

Hi Jeff,

I would start with the Yellowstone page on Cool Works - http://www.coolworks.com/yellowstone-national-park-jobs/. There are definitely still jobs to be had, but I would start applying immediately. Also, be sure to check out the chat to the right on each page of this site. There is always someone on-line who might be able to answer any questions you have.

Good luck!
Kari

Living so close to the park, I'd hit the old pavement in West, Gardner. Don't forget a stack of resumes.

Spring jobs have been full for a few months, which is unusual. Typically you could have applied and probably been hired if you had good start and end dates. Outside jobs are usually the first to go and generally go to returning staff. Put in your time for a season and then apply for one of the outside jobs. There will be a question on the application that wants to know if you will accept entry level, say "yes." You will be able to choose three positions. Choosing Kitchen Crew, Employee Dining Room and Cook should increase your chances.

At this time of year positions will be assigned based on need. Grant may be a possibility.

Appearance standards are dependent upon your position. The hair will probably be safe.

Hope this helps,

Wendy
