Living & Working in Great Places

I'm going to be heading to the canyon area in less than a month and can not for the life of me decide if i should bring my laptop. I've heard that getting wireless is anywhere from difficult to nonexistent. Half of me wants to leave it behind, take nature on full force, but the other half remembers that i have parents who want to hear from me occasionally. Any suggestions? Is it more hassle than help? Also, what is the food situation going to be like? Should i plan on bringing my own snacks (since i'm a notorious grazer) so that I can have the energy bars and snacks that I like? Or will the cafeteria supplies suffice? I would greatly appreciate any words of wisdom from you veterans at there! Thanks!

Hey Angela. I would say bring it. I'm pretty sure all of the dorms have wi-fi. And the internet is by far the easiest way to keep in touch with people back home. I'm not sure about the food situation but if you have a favorite snack i would say bring it cause more than likely theyre not going to have anything special. I think they just provide 3 squares meals a day. I'll be arriving in Mammoth in 5 days so hit me up when you get into the area.

yeah dude bring your lap top and stock up on snacks.. the edr has snacks and stuff but sometimes if your in your room and you want a snack it's easier to have it there then have to walk to the edr and hope they have what you want..... but they do have food there so i wouldn't bring the whole fridge! :-)

I am definitely bringing my laptop, Angela, because you can also play your music on it (without being online) download photos and videos from your camera, keep a journal, share photos from your hardrive, etc. Also, I heard there is wifi in the dorms, and getting on company pcs is difficult. Besides, while being on the road, there are places to use a laptop in transit.
See you there, I'll be at Lake Hotel.
