2019 late winter survey of northern Yellowstone elk

Elk numbers in Yellowstone National Park’s northern herd are fewer compared to last year, however the population remains above the 10-year average and other recent counts. Select roads open for spring bicycling: Cyclists – anticipate hazards and vehicles on the roads

Beginning Friday, March 29, bicyclists willing to brave the unpredictable elements of spring in Yellowstone National Park can ride 49 miles of park roads from the West Entrance to Mammoth Hot Springs. https://www.nps.gov/yell/learn/news/19009.htm

First bear sighting of 2019 in Yellowstone National Park; Protect yourself and protect bears

The first grizzly bear sighting of 2019 occurred in Yellowstone National Park just days ago. On Friday, March 8, visitors observed a large grizzly bear between Canyon Village and Fishing Bridge. Additionally, grizzly tracks were reported between Mammoth Hot Springs and Norris Junction on Monday, March 11. https://www.nps.gov/yell/learn/news/19008.htm

Coming summer (24th-28th of June) I'll be visiting Yellowstone. I would appreciate some help in finding a place to stay (up to 175$ room per night) during that time because it seems very hard to find anything. mail to: openstrategy@gmail.com
