My adventure is starting!

Just wanted to post here quickly that my adventure is finally starting. I am typing this in the computer room of the Grand Canyon International Hostel in Flagstaff, Arizona, where I am spending the night. Tomorrow at eight am I catch a shuttle up to the Grand Canyon where I process through HR and get assigned housing etc and begin my adventure up by the big hole in the ground. So glad was I to get out of Phoenix this morning, as the shuttle starting climbing altitude as we left the Phoenix area,… Continue

really itching to hit the road.....

Today it is 9/13, the middle of September. The weather in Phoenix has dryed out a bit and cooled off and right around the corner, maybe about four weeks away, the temps will once again cool off to the point where many people would consider it nice to be here. Usually I am very happy to see this time of the year as it means things will pick up, the utility bills will go down, life will once again be more pleasant here. This year however - I JUST WANT OUT!!! Triggering this is the fact that two we… Continue

I know what you mean - its killing me even thinking about having to wait that long, but i dont plan on doing anything over the winter, so i might as well hang in there till then. Good luck getting the job you want, keep me updated on what you'll be doing and how its going!

Hi and thanks for the good wishes. It would be really cool to get out of the city for awhile, yes. I passed through Wickenburg about eight years ago but never spent any time there. Is there much going on there? A library, Internet access, that kind of thing? There is a city bus like you said from Arrowhead Mall into Wickenburg now - from Arrowhead Mall you can connect with other buses to (kind of) get around the Valley. Is there something you wanted to check out, maybe I could tell you how to get there.

Los Cab is a pretty nice place. Hope you get it.

I'm over on the other side of town, in a bit more rustic and smaller ranch, the Kay El Bar. Have you ever taken the hour trip to Wickenburg? Sometimes on my big day off I grab the bus that goes to the Arrowhead Mall in Glendale, but other than the airport trips I really haven't seen much of Phoenix.

Thanks for the encouragment, Rob. I think I am too late for this summer season. I am def. considering Yellowstone or the Tetons for next summer. Xanterra is all over Yellowstone. Good luck to you in your ventures and keep in touch! Cole
