Fun Loving, free spirited, native Floridian.
After being in Florida most of my life, I'm ready to explore the world, see things in a different perspective and allow my daughter too as well, so we are headed from deep in S.E. Florida to as far north and far west as we can go, Alaska baby!!
After working there for the 2009 season and wintering here in beautiful SKagway, Alaska I will most likely be returning to work @ the Klondike Gold Dredge for the 2010 season.

At this point it does not look like I will be back there. I simply cannot work for Tom. I will not go into details of course, but another reason is at my age I cannot do seasonal work I need benefits,401K etc. which I have found here. I had a great time brewing the beer, and doing the tours meeting people from all over the world, and so on, but it just cannot work for me.....

Excellent and I thank you for the info. I will have to read that book and then head to that area and take the train for I love stuff like that. I appreciate your quick response and wish you a great day.

Cheers,
Peter

A lot of people come up here for summer jobs and while working those jobs start looking for a winter or permanent one. That is one way to go... If you can serve or tend bar and save what you make, you can do well
Look at the AK job service (sign-up required) called Alexys.. it is very current with those type of jobs.
Craigslist has a ton of work available...one of the best resources
Juneau and Anchorage is are the best places in AK for long-term work and winter work. Fairbanks also, but Fairbanks gets REALLY cold
Good luck..check out those spots and see what is available... housing is not cheap here and sometimes unavailable except in the cities so be aware...
Alska is a beautiful place with very warm and friendly people. It is a wonderful land..I'll be here to assist if you need help. :0)
peace...

I know how you feel, I did relocate here from California, and I hope to be here for a very long time. The place feels like home already, and It is indeed very beautiful. I love the outdoors, and having lived in Yosemite for nearly 6 years, this sure seems like another great fit for me.
Good luck in your search!!!...Jim

Hi Angel,
Welcome to Coolworks. I used to fish and serve tables out of Juneau. If you have any questions about the area, feel free to ask.
