So i stumbled across a photo of us climbing in the rock cave in talkeetna, its a little fuzzy cuz its a bit dark inside.
By the way are you driving up? Ive driven the Alcan 10 times now any ?'s let me know. If you are driving, no matter what stop at the Laird Hot Springs on the border of BC and Yukon 2hrs from Watson Lake
thats awesome that your whole family is scuba certified! i first tried it while i was working on phi phi island and absolutely loved it! and southeast asia is an incredible place for it. i really want to get further licensing at some point soon too.
what part of thailand did you live in?
as far as the trip up to alaska goes, i will be making the drive up from tahoe. probably gonna try to leave a couple weeks before work starts so i can enjoy the drive up and explore a little. maybe hit up that rock gym that jason brown commented on when i get there too.
are you driving up from utah?
it should be a really fun trip.
and i do have facebook. send me a request on there next time you're on : )
Hello Great to meet ya!! First Definetly be excited, your in for a great summer!!! As for your bike if you can bring it do. Having a bike at the lodge is awesome, even just for the ride down to work, but there are also great places to ride, and usually great people to ride with, I always bring my bike. as for rock climbing shoes, their is not a whole lot of places to climb, and most places are quite remote, there is in Talkeetna however a small (pretty killer actually) rock gym of sorts at one of the Mountaineering schools headquarters. They are mostly great people at the school and you can usually talk your way into an invite. So if your passionate about getting on a wall bring the shoes, you probably wont use them much but their are oppourtunites. So river rafting, absolutely we can go rafting. Most of the raft trips departing from our lodge are float trips, meaning flat water. However there is fantastic whitewater trips available at the Denali lodge north of us. It is a common trip take the train north, eat at the awesome salmon bake, check out the live music, spend the night at the lodge, go whitewater rafting the next day, then hop on the bus back south. That whole trip is very very cheap, as are almost all of the massive amount of activitys avaliable to us.
Hope all that helps, anything else at all just let me know
