Well I am happy to say that when I did housekeeping we did not *spray and swipe* and we always vacuumed and sanitzied everything. We were always getting yelled at to get rooms done 3 hours before due but we did not skip corners.
I have worked there, I believe you can live in your RV as there is a RV park. If you do live in your RV you will h ave a MUCH better time then in employee housing.
The people who run Sol Duc are amazing and fun.

Jim said… - I'm glad to hear your comments about getting cabin fever, which is something I want to avoid. I had the same problem in Yellowstone. It was so incredibly boring. All the oldsters (of which I am one!) went to bed after eating in the EDR and everyone else tried to entertain themselves with drinking and playing basketball. I did meet a couple really fun people. The walls in the dorm were paper thin and the doors were spring loaded, so they slammed really loudly! I slept in my truck for 6 weeks and then left.
Yosemite for me was the best, except for the job I had at the tour desk. I won't bore you with it, but everyone fought, the manager did nothing except take up space--did her crossword puzzles and email, scolded me for wearing Crocs while she sat there in a thong and bare midriff. And the computers crashed every day. Not fun. BUT, swimming in the river every day and walking made up for it.
I sent lots of people to the Evergreen Lodge when they'd arrive in the valley with no reservations. For couples, Yosemite is actually the best place. DNC is fine, and there's tons of people in the workforce so you blend in.
I'm still searching for the perfect job for this summer. I'm applying to some Calif. state parks as well as Princess/Grayline tours in Alaska.
I sure loved Oregon when I drove to Eugene last summer after leaving Yosemite. Northern Calif. coast is pretty nice too.

- Wow. What a terrible experience for you. My heart goes out to you. Working in Yosemite 3 summers I've seen all manner of alcohol induced bad behavior. I don't know why it is, but there is always so much drinking, which I love to do myself ;) but it's all about control.
The area sounds gorgeous, but I'd like to be in a place with more people, more workers, and close to a town or city. Could you get away from the hotel on your days off?
