Hi there! I might be working at Lake Crescent this summer! Would you mind giving me an idea of what it is like?

Ugh! :) I don't really know much about Xanterra personally (only what I've heard from others, and I think it depends a lot on the location!), and I've never been to Bryce. Good luck, though!

Hey Colleen, I just saw your comment, sorry! Why I wasn't happy at the Evergreen... Well, I was there in the winter, so it was much slower, but it's just really run the most unprofessionally of any place I've ever worked seasonally (I'm now on my 16th seasonal job in the last 6 years). The GM & the Groups and Events Manager have a very tumultuous on-again/off-again relationship, and it makes it very uncomfortable when they fight at the desk, etc (I've since heard from people who worked there after I left that they are engaged, and that the GM broke into an employee's cabin because he was sleeping with the Events Mgr...). It is very secluded there, which means most people spend every minute at the bar. The housing isn't very good, unless you're a manager, and the bathrooms are dirty, don't ever get cleaned, and the dorm constantly smells like pot. The old General Store Manager was really lazy and never worked, and therefore, never did inventory, so we were often selling products that were expired - often by several months! The meals were terrible, and you were lucky to get Sysco lasagna and a wilted lettuce salad. My manager told my husband (boyfriend at the time) that I was disgruntled and suggested to him that if I had a problem, I leave, but never addressed my issues with me in person. My co-worker, who worked night audit, threatened me and said I was in "no way smart enough to do his job," which I am, but I wasn't even trying to. He was also in love with the Events Mgr (dating the GM), and eventually ended up naked, lying on the road in the middle of the night, begging for a car to run him over and put him out his misery... Granted, this was all in the winter of 05-06, so things may have changed dramatically. Take this all with a grain of salt. I just have never felt so uncomfortable or out of my element at a job. There are some great people who work there, and the 3 owners who live in San Francisco try to do a good job with the program getting inner city teens/young adults to work there, but that often causes problems too. It is in a beautiful location, though, and my husband and I really enjoyed Yosemite and snowshoeing and hiking around there, as well as being able to travel around Northern California on our weekends.

The only place I've worked at has been Signal Mountain Lodge in Grand Teton Park and it was awesome. So awesome that I went there for 3 season :) Forever owns that and the management there is great. They just need to have the right managers. If you don't have good management then you've got nothing. So did management never come up and tell people to shut up at the dorms.

Hey. So what was so insane about the housing?
