Don Talton replied to Matthew Frazer's discussion looking for work any openings in CA AZ or UT in the group Grand Canyon-North Rim!
"Try Bryce Canyon. Or the small town of Kanab, UT. There are several places there that will offer R&B. Some even advertise on craigslist."

"That's great Don. I love the Smokey Mountains. I would've looked for work there, but I was interested in working in a part of the country that I haven't been to before. Where will you be working?"

I have had about ten emails for various positions (culinary) scattered about the west and north west.

With absolutely no comittments from any. Its as everyone is waiting to the last minute to make their hiring "run" at the last second. One, informed me that "they" had several resumes and were "gonna" make their minds up soon.

A month later, "they" had "forgot" about me. So, I re-submitted a resume. This time they told me that I was too "High Class" for their restaurant… Continue

hi don,
bryce is a hiking & photography dream adventure come true! my husband & i have worked 2 seasons there & plan on going back. if you have an rv, there are spaces outside the park, 2 miles away. the staff is ok to work for & the employees are mostly young, & like to party. they have a dorm for the older folks, that is very quiet after 9pm, since they get up for work early. xanterra, offers insurance benefits if you are with them, (you can transfer to other locations). they have weekly trips, like to zion, capitol reef, cedar city. i hope you get a position, what did you apply for?

Wow, Don, a chalet, where you can hang and listen to the weekend bands! Does it get any better than that?

I've applied to a few places, but haven't quit my real job yet, sort of waiting on that certainty that this is my new life style. Read: scared! lol How did you decide to definitly take the leap, especially in this economy which is sort of nuts anyhow.

Housing is really cool!. I Chalet. A three bedroom apt. over the restaurant & Bar that overlooks the lake and marina...with a deck...that one can hang out and listen/watch the bands on the weekends. There are shower and restroom facil, in addition... campsites and rv parking as well.

ah, another Chef! What is the housing like....I met a chef at Berkley Camp, he had his own tent cabin, and of course run of the kitchen. That would be a cool set up, with a few helpers.
