Hi Jim, sorry that it took me so long to get back to you. Wow, as you said, the crowds are stupendous in Yosemite, and I'm pretty sure that we set a record again this year, due to the tremendous amount of snow that the higher elevations got this year, and gave us fabulous falls and rapids. It was a great time to be here, but the crowds made it terrible at times. There has to be a way to control the cars coming into the valley. The only reason I made it through the season without cracking (the stress of a shuttle driver at Happy Isles, etc) is that I got the rafting bid, and it took me out of the loop for more than half of the season. I've also been doing the El Capitan, and went up to Wawona, so that was a blessing. I don't see how the Yosemite experience can be good for anyone when the gridlock is so bad. Now is a great time of the year, and I am enjoying it immensely. I will be laid off probably in the middle of Oct-then I have a beautiful drive home to Ohio. It's been a great summer.
Hi Jim, thanks for adding me as a friend! I am Cathy, 56, a school bus driver who saddly had to leave my driving job this year, as Oberlin drastically cut our hours. But in a way, it could be a blessing-now I am free to pursue my dream job of working seasonally for the national parks. You said that you love Yosemite ("your dream joy'"). I am heading that way to help end the season as a shuttle driver. I'm excited! I have a long drive ahead of me! Please tell me about your days at Yosemite, and what to expect! Thanks so much! Cathy
