You bet this is fun. Just remember your not doing it for the money. The work allows you to stay some place for a several months that you normally could not afford if you had to pay for it. If you can take some time off call Rushmore HR and book the guest room and come over and visit. Many do that. Gives them chance to see the conditions of other dorms and meet the people working there. It is only 400 miles or so from Yellowstone. This year will be the fourth year working at Rushmore only because the mgn. group I love and is easy to work for and I love the Black Hills, can't get enough of it. I could not afford to come and stay in that area as cheap as I do. I know living in the dorm cost more but the dorms at Rushmore are pretty nice. Good luck and have a fun summer. The jobs are not that bad and remember it's only for a few months you can take anything for a few months. LOL
I live in an RV full time so I travel where I want to go when I want to go.
I base out of Claremore, OK where my 3 children live. My son is buying a house and is setting me up a place I can hookup when I came in. But most of the time I come through twice a year. This time of the year and in the Fall.
In the winter I go to a town called Bouse that is mouse with a B, or house with a B. There is a desert RV park that I have gone to for the last 2 winters and I have a ball out there. 250 in any direction you can see so much.
I spent many an evening right outside where you will be working listening to the piano in the Lake Hotel lobby. One of my most favorite places in Yellowstone in fact! I am sure you will find the ice cream fountain at the Lake store right down the road - try the huckleberry ice cream (to die for). I worked retail for DNC last year at nearby Bridge Bay - be sure to get over there also for a free (space available) tour of the lake. You have picked a great location to work - have fun!
