I hope you get plenty of Salmon in Seward; I will miss the Salmon this summer :)~ because I am going back to Yellowstone, where it all started. March 2010 or 2011 is the likely date for the AT... Hopefully 2010. Hiking the entire trail would be awesome!! I don't think Seward will get much ash from the volcano so it probably will be one of the best spots to be in AK.... Cheers :)

I worked at Summit Lake Lodge, not too far from Seward, and as of right now am planning on returning for another season. Do you have any plans on travel arrangements this summer? I'm hoping to drive from CA/NV and am looking for someone to join me and help pay gas...split two ways is definetely comparative to a one way ticket. Anyhow, I'm not sure where you're located at right now, but let me know if you're interested! In any case, we'll be neighbors again this summer...Enjoy it!

Did you only apply for those three jobs? I hope you get a job at one of them. If I was you I'd be sending apps to everyone, and ASAP. Just to be on the safe side. I got my job back in January before everyone starting flooding most of these companies with Apps. You're going to have to pump out some really fast or you might not be working in AK this summer.

As for me, Denali would have been nice, but I would have only been able to work as a trail guide for about 15 hours a week. So I decided to work as a Canopy Guide in Ketchikan. I'll get more hours there, plus I'll be 150 feet in the air playing around on zip lines all day. If I want to do some trail guiding all I have to do is switch out with someone on the ground.

I made it halfway through college in Oregon and am currently taking some time off to travel and learn in other ways. I spent 4 months working in Alaska and LOVED what I saw of the state... can't wait to go back. I'm from Maine, love the outdoors, am a mean cook on a low budget, and I like to travel whenever I can. Someday I want to hike the Appalachian Trail.
