Hey Justin, as far as the people go there is a far mix of young and old. Sometimes more college kids but there are a lot of retirees as well. I thought the lodge was more laid back, but that was also five years ago. When I was there the general rule was that the noise level was the length of two rooms. So if you are on the far room it could be no louder then two rooms down. Needless to say most people didn't care. Where I was there was one hall dedicated to the loader crowed and the other hall to the quieter bunch. I'm sure you'll have a great time. Oh also bring a Halloween costume. They have Wolf night on July 31st. Trust me you don't want to miss it.

I worked at Canyon Lodge, but I always thought that the Lake property was the most beautiful. Nice hikes throughout... it is a place (when I worked there) that was reserved for returning employees. Go for it... watch out walking up on elk. They can hide very well in the woods sometimes...

Hey Justin, The lodge and the hotel are separate. I worked at the lodge and the community was smaller then the hotel so in a way that was nice. The all girls dorm is really small but the ones in both the hotel and all co-ed dorms at the lodge are not to bad. The main difference at the hotel is that the dorms on the lower floor have their own bathroom where as the ones upstairs are a sweat room. (Two rooms share a bathroom in the middle.) So try and get one on the first floor if you can.
As for what to bring... Maybe just some snake food ( the food in the EDR is not always the best.) to buy it in the park is expensive and to drive into town is a ways. Depending on the position you have they provide you with a uniform and all you need is shoes.
One nice thing is they have an employee rec room closer to the lodge. It has a computer and a basketball court and everything. If you like frisbee there is a disc golf course that you can play. I never did play but most of the guys were into it.
You will want to also bring your swim trunks. there are places like Fire Hole where you can go swimming. Another place to check out is Moose Falls. If your not looking for it is it easy to miss. You walk down the path and you can jump off the falls and swim and everything. I can't remember if it is closer to West Yellowstone or the north entrance. Just ask around and someone will know.
Other then that just have a good time and try not to spend all your money in town like I did. If you can go to Jackson for the 4th of July. It is amazing and it will be worth the drive. If you want to know anything else don't be afraid to ask. I'm sure you'll have fun.

Welcome to Cool Works. I live at the north entrance to Yellowstone and it's pretty sweet. I think you'll like it out here.
