I got altitude sickness a few years ago when I visited the tetons. I was told then to drink lots of water. I hope that doesn't happen to me again I had about as much energy as a snail for several days. I need to start walking and getting in shape ...

I love this post! I am so with you Kate! I just had a yard sale last week and sold all my furniture. I'm leaving Rogers Arkansas with only what will fit into my car! If it doesn't fit it doesn't go..it is so liberating to get rid of all that junk!...

Not sure how they do it now but I do know that they will hire him just not for the same job.

Only Three More Days at the Marriott

Only three more days to work at the Marriott!! I'm ready to move on but will miss the people here. I was given a very nice going away dinner last Thursday night. All of my employees here pitched in and bought me a new set of luggage as a parting gift. I was very surprised and happy. I have my apartment until Friday but can't wait to go home for three weeks. I won't have any internet the three weeks that I'm home so I will be out of touch with all of my new coolworks friends. But soon it will be… Continue

I Fried my Uniform in the Hotel Dryer! LOL

I got called in last night at one am. The new night auditor called me crying that the computers had crashed and technical support wasn't answering. I knew I was scheduled to work at 6 am so I grabbed my uniform which was in the washer. Threw it into a Wal-Mart bag ..thinking if I'm running late I'll just dry it at work. Well I knew the commericial dryers get really hot but I didn't realize HOW HOT. I put my polyester black pants and my uniform vest into the dryer for FIVE minutes and fried them… Continue

BAD Friday the 13th READY TO LEAVE HERE

I am so ready to leave my job and this god forsaken apartment. I have precious little in the world and I guess it's just as well since it all seems so temporary right now. I got a bunch of stuff stolen from my apartment and I am feeling a little violated right now. Worst is I know it was a friend of my nephews but can't really prove it. It has only shored up my idea of getting rid of all my world belongings and hitting the road. Worst part is that my feelings are hurt and I guess that probably s… Continue

Only Three Weeks Until Lift Off

Over the last few weeks my emotions have ranged from overwhelming excitement to gut wrenching anxiety. Right now all I can think is thank God I only have three weeks left to live in this soulless place! I have been here 8 months and in that time the water department project across the street has become more and more invasive. The huff and blow of the construction equipment has become unbearable. The endless hammering and grinding of the construction crew from dawn until dusk grates on my last ne… Continue

Cold Feet

It's snowing in Arkansas this morning but the snow isn't causing my cold feet. I've got a serious case of the nervous jitters. I've given notice here at the Marriott and will soon be training a new assistant manager. I've given my landlady notice that I will be moving out of my apartment April 1st. I've made arrangements for my two dogs to have good and loving homes with my grown children. I've warned all of my family that I'm leaving including my father who I expected to hit the roof! He worrie… Continue

Hey Kimberly ... just wondered if you had started your summer job. I have a feeling you will not see this note 'cause it looks like your last posts were in March (probably don't have a laptop?). But if you see this note let me know how things are going. Let's get together sometime and have that time over money talk, ok?

No, I don't have cold feet. I am counting the days (54). Only thing that turned out bad was I have to be there 2 days before my Granddaughter's 3rd birthday. So I see that you are going to take the bus how long will it take you?

Hi there. We usually start applying for winter jobs around July, August at the very latest. It depends on what the job is, but there can be a gap from September to October, or even longer, if it's a ski resort (for example, our start date here was November 29th). Let me know if there's anything else I can help with!
