How to come to be...

I think it takes an exceptional time in place to decide where your focal point in life starts off. You just don't join the marine/army because it sounds exciting. But you have to have something before that. It's like a tiny nudge in the right direction I guess.

Maybe someone says that Vietnam is beautiful. Well, of course, Vietnam War is going on. What a better way to see a country side, then to be there with two feet on the ground. Of course, i'm exaggerating, but I guess that's the moral point. A tiny nudge.

It's what I honor in a lot of people. Those that feel the nudge and take full advantage of it. Rather than those who relax in the comfortable air of the future tense. Willingness to expolore outside the real atmosphere of home and venture off to find "your" home. "Your" time. "Your" place.

Feel the nudge.

Well, I will be in Alaska all summer, but if you're in CA, let me know. I can get you in contact with a lot of my climbing partners. There are TONS of places near Tahoe, that have some spectacular views!

Where are you working at this summer? I would love to teach anyone who is interested, it just means more climbing partners for me! The one necessity you will need is a harness (unless you just boulder). A pair of climbing shoes help A LOT too. You can usually find these on craigslist if you don't want to spend the money to get new ones (REI has harnesses for about 40-60, and they usually have a sale on shoes). I wouldn't recommend buying any other gear from craigslist, because you never know how it's been treated, and you don't want to use gear that your life depends on, that could fail. I have all other gear needed, and I take VERY good care of it. Let me know where you'll be at this summer, and we'll have to go climbing!

Never been to Alaska, so I'm extremely excited about finding some local crags...I know there are a lot of places along the Seward Highway that I can't wait to check out...Here in CA/NV we always head over to Donner Summit (Donner Lake, as in the Donner Party!) and heading down to Lover's Leap (which is a pretty famous spot) next weekend for a trad route...have you done much rock climbing yourself? Looking for some people to go with this summer, so hit me up if you're interested!

Hey, if you go to coolworks.com and click on "state park jobs", under alaska there is a volunteer page, but the deadline is tomorrow may 1st. here's the link: http://www.dnr.state.ak.us/parks/vip/indexcws.htm just thought you might want to take a look at it.
