Goodbye cubicle, hello to the life I've only known in my daydreams.... hey road less travelled, here I come!
Last summer I spent 2 weeks on an all-paddle trip on the Colorado River - I feel so blessed to have experienced the majestic Grand Canyon in this way. The time that I spent on that river was the beginning of an awesome journey for me. I am amazed , still, that beauty can be powerful enough to take breath away and also give life, all at the same time!
I met personalities and people from all walks of life on my trip. Parents brought their children for a "bonding experience" and to "make memories", one person that I met was terminally ill but had always wanted to see the canyon in this way, some were repeat customers who had been unable to shake the canyon and the RIVER from their thoughts, others went along just because someone else planned the trip for them. Three others went alone, just because, ... just like me. Crazy folks, different folks, folks I really learned from.
I went on that trip very nervous, but returned home powerful and changed. Initially I thought I'd just come home and slip back into my life as I had always done before, after a vacation. Thought I'd be able to "go through the motions" and just collect more paychecks. This was not the case, not the case at all. That river put a spell on me. Best thing that could've ever happened.
Funny how things don't always turn out how you planned, huh?
Last week I handed in my resignation at my insurance job. I'm finally ready to take that step forward that I've been afraid to take for so long. I don't have a "set plan" like I've always had in the past. All I know is I just want to go west for the summer - decompress, work hard in a beautiful place, figure things out, OR, maybe, just maybe NOT try to control my life for once, perhaps just let my life happen - what a nice thought. Scary, yes? Strangely I am more excited than scared though!
Glad to know I'm not the only one! Thanks Coolworks!

Just another quick thought. I just read your bio above. Even more so, good for you and may all of your dreams come true. I love the Grand Canyon. That place is amazing. We just biked the perimeter, but it is a powerful place. More power to you!
