Hey Dallas, Thanks for responding. Ya know, I honestly don't really have a preference as to where I go. I have been a lot of places on family vacations, and I wouldn't mind working at any of those places. Mainly, just something different. But thank…

Profile Information

Hometown:
Joplin
About Me:
I am twenty years old, I love doing anything adventurous and anything outdoors. I want to find a really cool summer job this summer preferrably somewhere that is not a land-locked state.
My favorite color is purple and I love hanging out with friends and having a good time. I also enjoy being on the lake or river, really any kind of natural body of water and I hate indoor pools.
Last Seasonal Job:
Camp War Eagle in Rogers, AR
Where have you lived and worked?
I have only lived here in good ol' Joplin, MO and have mainly just worked retail.
Dream Job:
Goodness, I guess somewhere that makes me happy and I have not found that occupation yet.

I don't mean to be a party breaker Lindsey but unless you are the gas station attendant you probably won't be getting that recreational job. Mike might call and ask you if you would work the cookout though. All the recreational job is is renting bikes. It's not a major job really. The attendant usually just keeps the bikes in working order making sure the tires have air and so on. Each morning the bikes are put out side so visitors can see them. There wiped down and in the evening there put in the garage. Other then that there is nothing much else to do. Sorry.

No problem at all. I started to travel almost 4 years ago and I had no one to ask questions to. I know it always is a little more assuring when you have people to talk to that have done this type of thing. I love to help out and if you have any questions feel free to ask. You can also check out my website because Im putting a lot of helpful information on there too. http://www.outdoortravellife.com Have fun, good luck, and I hope to hear back from you soon.

Hi Lindsey,

I was just checking out all the newcomers to Coolworks when I saw your note describing how hard it was to explain to others your desire for adventure. I used to live in Arnold, South of St. Louis. One day I was at a fruit orchard even further south (Crystal City?...) along with a friend. Both of us being Marine Corps veterans, we were swapping stories of all the places we had been and visited. The owner of this orchard, a very sweet lady, just started crying. My friend and I were afraid that we had somehow offended her and asked if she was o.k.
She was; The problem is she had never left her town, even to visit St. Louis. For all that she owned, she had NO life experience.... and I think she died regretting that.
Next time someone wants to understand, feel free to use this note. You can always go back home and settle down when you are ready, but for now, just go for it! It is only one summer at most... Coolworks has been my "civilian adventure" since 1999, and I don't regret it one bit. Ask yourself, do you want to end up being that orchard owner with no experience?
Feel free to ask me anything that you want... I will do my best to guide you. I am currently in Alaska. peace Akscootr
