People say think out of the box, but i say think out of your place! We can only do this through travelling and I am on mission to travel round the globe. Appreciate discussion, photos, videos, to this group to enhance the documentation.

Hey Laurie! I'll be starting at Allen Marine in April! Do you love it? How hard was it finding adequate housing?

Has anyone worked with Allen Marine Tours in Juneau? I'm heading there in a few months and would love some feedback/info about the experience! Thanks - Meaghan

Hi Meahgan, I have not worked for them but I did live in Juneau 2006. They have a decent reputation from what I can gather and they have a sizable boat dealership. They also build their own boats as well as running tours. Juneau is an o.k. town with a lot of friendly folks. Across the bridge from Juneau is Douglas which is a smaller community and even friendlier folks... a good campsite at the Northern end of the road is there with Bald Eagles to see (a great dive bar called Louie's also). In the summer there are as many as 5 cruise ships docking every day providing for a busy season. Auke Bay is where the university of Alaska is located and it is a beautiful area; If my old fishing boss is still based out of Auke Bay you will be able to see his boat (the name is Butt Ugly :)..no, I am not kidding). I have a pic of it in my pics section...He may be in Douglas as well... when he comes in he is willing to sell you an entire Sockeye salmon for $15 if he has caught any. Although rainy, S.E. Alaska is gorgeous... I hope you enjoy your season as much as I did. I loved it so much that if I am ever able to settle down it will be in S.E. Alaska... It is really beautiful.

Hey Meaghan...I had a good buddy that worked for them last summer. She said it was a nice company to work for. I really have not spent much time in Juneau....But I have yet to find a "bad"spot here in Alaska.

Good luck on your journey!
