I just got off the phone with Steffanie up there in Alaska. A veggie garden, OH HELL YEA! I know cabbage does great up there. I think melons do too and some herbs,Dminic, cilantro grows crazy up there so just bring seed. Tomatoes, you'll will have to get hybrids that grow fast I don't know much more than that. I hope to see ya'll there

I wish I could, but at this time of year they are in Thailand. They will be back for the summer season but I don't know when exactly. They grew their veggies south of Fairbanks( about 60 miles)... I don't know how that would affect it. Here is some Alaska info, however, that I managed to dig up on Alaska gardeniong, one of them from the local university. I hope it helps some... Cheers

I was just reading about your gardening plans... I have friends who do it up here very well. Citronella doesn't work as well as shotguns on the mosquitos though :)~

Hey Megan I was just leaving a comment for Dominic and saw your comment on the Employee Garden! That's great that you've been looking into it, I'm kinda curious on ur plans to get the soil and fertilizer up there? I'm driving up in mid-April so I'll have a pretty big capacity car (ford explorer) please let me know what I can do to help get it started! I did look into coldframe and it sounds pretty straigtforward(hopefully), I'm also planning on planting some geraniums in pots in front of the cabin to ward off biting flies and mosquitos, any thoughts on this?
