Quiet in here.....

I'm interested in what jobs on ships they will accept retirees for. I'm 60 now but in great shape, retired from both civilian law enforcement and the U. S. Army. I even worked four seasons at Yellowstone NP in reservations after retiring. Any advice is welcomed.

A picture in the woods way out at the end of Rock Creek Road. There's a nice campground out there and NO ONE was there.

Back for the Winter Season at Yellowstone.

I reported back to Yellowstone on December 16th for the winter season. I'm sure many folks were just kidding me about the winters up here, but being from Houston, Texas, I'm sure they were just a little bit serious as well. So, how am I faring in this winter wonderland? It is fantastic. It's cold, that's for sure, and there's lots of snow, but it is great. In Houston, we used to have at least 15 or 20 minutes of winter every year, so there's that. Driving out to Lamar Valley and sitting on the…See More

"If you get a chance, read to book "Squatters in Paradise" written by James Perry II. It gives great details on what he experienced working both summer and winter seasons. It is a great book."

"I haven't really looked at the Xanterra page too much.  A 4-day work week would be rare anywhere.  Inside parks many use the 48-hour week...and some push it even further. But I'm happy to see everything went OK"

Wow. Just wow. This season has flown by. I just noticed I did not post a single thing the entire time except the first piece where I told about my initial impressions. How did I not post anything?

I'll tell you how. I have been having the best time of my life, bar none. I absolutely love it up here and I do not want to leave. Of course, I have to, on October 1st, because my contract is up, but, I did get picked up for the winter season and I will be returning on December 16th till…

After a month in a cabin in Missouri, then a month and a half staying at my brothers place in Las Vegas, I have now made my way to Yellowstone National Park. The adventure started when I left Las Vegas the same day as the final confrontation between the Feds and the Rancher in Nevada. Of course, I was caught up in the traffic jam on U.S. 15 going north and we were stopped on the highway for about an hour before the State Police finally got the road at least partially unjammed. Later on they…

Getting closer, and closer....

Here I am in Las Vegas! Actually, staying with my brother and sister-in-law in Henderson, Nevada, but close enough for me! Have had a great time since I arrived nearly a month ago, and have about 9 days left before I have to head north. I've been watching the weather up Yellowstone way and they've been getting a lot of snow still in the Mammoth area, so there's that to look forward to, lol. I'll be glad to get up there and unpack the motorcycle from the trailer and get it ready for riding…
