Lived and worked in Portland, OR for 30 some years before deciding to quit and do something fun with the rest of my life. Have worked in Yellowstone at Roosevelt, Canyon, and Old Faithful. Also worked 2 summers and 1 winter in Crater Lake. In between seasons, I did whatever sounded good from selling insurance to being lazy.
Accepted a job in Yellowstone on a whim and have worked for Xanterra on a seasonal basis since 2004. Spending my second winter in the park as F&B Manager at Snowlodge.
I hope to work/explore Zion this summer, then return to Yellowstone next (2011) summer. Lake station was my location in 2009, Rosevelt was the only location I didn't visit. I'm going to put in my application early January. Sorry to be so confusing on this.
Hi Pat welcome to Coolworks,
I guess with the down time between Snow Lodge and OFI, you'll have time on the net.
The Weather channel shows it still is cold & snowy there, is that true? (W. Yellowstone, right?)
Well, I guess I'll see and hear from you more now with fb & cw.
Wow, I was surprised to hear about the modest snow this year in Yellowstone ... I remember how much there seemed to be last year well into May. In fact I was a little shocked at how much ice was on Lake Yellowstone when I first arrived last May .... it was at least two weeks before the first boats began leaving the marina...and another couple of weeks before the Xanterra tour boat started going out on trial runs. I would really enjoy visiting Yellowstone in the winter, but only for a few days. I will dearly miss those cool Wyoming mornings this summer.
