Heh. I'm just finishing up hemming my pants and I've got to run out to pick up a few last minute things, and one more little piece of South Florida for the trip. Chris, I was wondering how you were going to live with just a duffle!

You and me both, Ashley. I'm still up messing with stuff and tomorrow I have to run around again looking for things. Rar!

Ah, ok. I have a layover at O'Hare to MN then to Alaska. Joy. 3 planes, so once again, I will be running accross an airport, tis par for the course and tradition for me! I've done it on two continents now. :-) You juggle? That's pretty nifty.

Who are you looking at to fly on? I've found a few that come in right after two (of course) as well as several that come in early in the morning. Does anyone know if the airport in Anchorage has a hotel inside it, like MIA does. It would work out ...

It will be the summer of adventure not fashion. I decided on the old ones after having trouble finding new ones too. It is capri season in the stores

Glad you found Naots, it reminds me to put mine on! For pants, I am bringing old ones and leaving them there.....did find one pair at Old Navy that are machine washable. Did you get any comments back on the Dickies?

Hi Patricia, here is a picture of Mahays Jet Boat. It has two huge engines powering two jet pumps and when at speed can travel in as little as 16 inches of water. My Devils Canyon Video is obviously from that trip. Glad your coming to MPL its an awesome place to spend a summer

I have the Matai. They are very comfortable so far but I have not worn them out yet.

I am a fan of Naot sandals, so I ordered a pair of their closed toe/heel shoes online and just got them. The sandals did not need to be broken in at all when I went to Europe last summer.

yea. i guess we'll see how it goes then. ive definitely got no experience in the cold water so dont know what it will be like.
ill be sure to check out that site though.
sounds like you've had quite the experienced instructor. awesome.
i definitely wouldnt miss the diving in asia though. it was amazing.
i was there backpacking for 3 months and kinda stumbled into a bartending job at a club on phi phi island for a short while.
and since i had been hearing so much about the diving i had to give it a shot while i was there. and i absolutely loved it.
then i continued on and ended up diving again in nha trang, vietnam which was another gorgeous place for it.
once i get travelin again i hope to land myself at a sweet dive shop somewhere tropical and work there to rack up the experience. a lot of backpackers in southeast asia were doin that while there.

sounds like you have a decent amount of experience and knowledge.
i dont have the most extensive experience myself as of yet but i do have my open water padi and a few dives in thailand and vietnam under my belt. incredible diving out there.
im looking forward to getting further experience and certification whenever possible too.
if my current level of certification allows it i would love to get some diving in while in alaska for sure though. and like you said its certainly better with a buddy.
you mentioned dry suit cert though, is that something that would be required for diving up there?
