Thanks for your kind reply, Sue, and please forgive me for taking so long to get back to you. If you don't mind, I'm wondering if you have any tips about getting an F&B job? Especially any tips on getting around my age?

Thanks Sue. My first choice of job would be F&B as a server--preferably lunch/dinner, but anything would be fine. I like the rush and that satisfied feeling of getting it all done and done well after a busy night. Could do without the occasional nightmare about suddenly remembering that the guy on table 12 asked for dijon mustard...doh! Don't know if I can handle a retail job. I fear it might be too boring? Thanks for your response and I welcome any suggestions for my first plunge into seasonal?

Hi Sue - Just as a point of info--do you carry large trays in your cafe job in Denali? I want to secure an F&B job somewhere maybe in the winter, but for sure next summer. I have lots of experience -- but it was a year or two...er, well, a long time ago. Back in the day, in my 20s and 30s, I usually snagged some buff busboy to carry my trays and tipped him handsomely for his muscle. Envisioning that same scenario now leads me to suspect I may have difficulty landing an F&B job because of the same heavy trays. While my affliction hasn't changed over the years (getting help with heavy trays) it may be interpreted as "deficiency due to age" now? Any thoughts you might like to share with me on how to handle this?

Hey Sue - I've been away from the site for a while but have some time today. Have a great time in Alaska. I am going to Acadia (Maine) this year as I've never been there. Possibly Alaska next year so will be interested in keeping in touch if ok with you. I was offered Denali last year with the park service, but the job was meant for a lean, mean young guy and I wouldn't have fared very well there. But there are many options. I will enjoy exploring Maine and Nova Scotia this summer. Contact me at champ12127@aol.com; I'd be interested in hearing your stories, and maybe vice versa.

The hotel does sit on a big hill, right above Table Rock Lake. The hotel is 11 years old or so, so if that's about when you left then it's probably the same one.
No one by that name was there when I was at MPL.

I work at Chateau on the Lake Hotel in Reservations. I know some of the things you mentioned in Branson. I am not from Branson so I don't know a lot about it. I actually live in Springfield (about 40 miles), so it doesn't help much with the knowing about Branson.

I enjoyed working at MPL. I was one of the three front desk supervisors last summer. I did hear MPL probably has the best employee housing for Princess.

It's ok Sue - I don't get on too often myself. I'm hoping to go to Maine this year with the park service, but not sure yet. Possibly back at Yellowstone. Definitely somewhere because I feel lost without an adventure to look forward to. I hope you really enjoy McKinley - I'd like to get more information; make connections with people going there for when I do plan to go there - maybe next year. Let's keep in touch. Enjoy.
