This trip is going to be amazing, but I am going to miss a lot of friends and my family, so I have been running around almost nonstop for the last 4 days to say good bye to everyone I know. Being popular is a gift and a curse.

Yep I am a newbie as well. I just finished all of my shopping this morning and started packing already. I am really excited to get out of Oregon and have an awesome adventure!

lol yeah same here. I ended up with my own room and bathroom mid season last year it was much better. And yeah definitely bring your winter coat cause it will probably still be snowing when we get there :)

only one I found was the one I have on my profile with the orange walls lol. That room was the only one like that. The rooms are alot like college dorms. Basically each person wwill have a bed with a drawer under it and a closet. Some of the rooms have two desks, but most have only one. All the rooms have a TV in them but u dont get many channels at all. Thats why if u have a laptop definitely bring it :) Pretty much each wing on each floor has a bathroom which u share with your wing again like a college dorm. It's not that bad once you get used to it lol. Alot of us put up posters and liquor bottles to help give it that homely feel :)

You just gotta be smart about it. There are alot of bonfires and lake parties all season long that are off the Homestead property :) Like I said it really is fun there.

If you always wanted to check out Alaska and you love the outdoors it's awesome! I gotta warn you though Homestead has alot of rules... I had a bunch of friends get fired and kicked off property. The rules are there to keep everyone safe though so it's understandable. For example you will get fired if you're caught drinking while underage at the Homestead my key words being drinking at the Homestead. You'll be fine :) I had alot of fun times there and plan to do the same this time around. If you have a laptop bring it. I would highly recommend u get one if u dont already have one. They have a computer room but last year they had problems with people hogging the room all the time and besides the computers there get trashed. There's wifi in the homestead so I just use my laptop, it's way more convenient. You'll probably see me alot I'll be one of the EDR chefs. If you have anymore questions gimme a hollar :)

Hey Samm :)
So when are you heading to Alaska?

Hi Samm
I noticed your post on the deathstar crew group..ive been in the HK department the past 3 years
every morning after everyone clocks in theres a morning meeting where the supervisors will call everyone off to say which building your in that day(usually everyone is in the same building each workday but it might vary if some extra help is needed elsewhere)
then you'll get your paper with which rooms you need to do by what time(you'll have 14-16 rooms)
the houseperson will be going through and "stripping" the rooms so it will be cleared of the old linens and trash but sometimes they wont get to a room before you do so the room attendant will strip that room.
