- I worked seasonal so I could road trip and experience new places for more than two weeks. In my past life I worked in print production/coordination, advertising/marketing and loved it. My seasonal jobs: Front Desk, Jackson Lake Lodge (Grand Teton Lodge Company), summer 2005. Warehouse Driver, Grand Teton Association, summer 2007. Night Audit/Front Desk, Wuksachi Lodge, Sequoia National Park, winter 2007/08. Museum Store Clerk, Mackinac State Historic Parks, spring 2008. Update: I just got a full-time, year-round job that uses my tourism and creative skills. I am the Tourism Assistant for a convention and visitors bureau in my home state. I'll miss the road but I'm excited to be able to sleep in my own bed and wear my own clothes!

Snow, beautiful snow
You’ve all heard about how many words Eskimos have for snow. Being from the Oregon coast where it snows once every five years, this had little relevance to me.
So I decided to take a job in at 7,000 feet in Sequoia National Park. The beauty is I could walk to work so I wouldn’t have to drive in the snow. Seeing as how I have a convertible, that was a good thing. (But I do have snow tires, just in case.)
The snow arrived late, in November, in a slushy mess. Then it snowed over a foot in one nig… Continue

Welcome to X,000 feet
Working seasonally in a mountain town, there are some things you have to figure out on your own. Like, can I really drink less here and get drunk faster? Here's a few things employers should mention at orientation.
