TEACHING ENGLISH OVERSEAS: Why? How? Where? What?

After this past week of teaching Chinese students interrogative phrases, how could I come up with anything else as a title?
Coolworks recently posted an ad for English teachers wanted in China. This ad is from a school I’m currently working with, and it inspired me to write this general blog about teaching English overseas.

I see that you have worked in Ireland, Scotland, New Zealand, and Thailand; Those are all places I would like to visit and work in. How does one get work in those places and what kind of work is available? Was it primarily teaching English? In Ireland especially... I would love to trace my family history and work there. I have spoken to Irish on vacation here in Alaska and I really enjoy their company. Thanks for any info you have
