Profile Information

Hometown:
Eureka, CA
About Me:
Started by working at the Yellowstone Lake Hotel in the park in the early 70's with Ellen Charley and Kathy Wade, then went to the East coast and worked restaurants for a couple more summers. This while in the course of earning a bachelor's degree, from Ohio University and finally graduating from Kent State University.
Picked up dastardly financial woes issues, and was able to consider opening a restaurant. In the course of doing so (this covered years), Chef Boy-ar-dee came along with one, and to make a long story short, he was too worthwhile/couldn't top his restaurant idea, and went with him on his, and others until it paid .
Did this once again in the 90's, until the owner of the Piggly Wiggly fair trailer I worked for offered me 5,000 dollars for the sale of business(es), which I turned down as I was in the Army at the time. I did however ask him for a few kind words.
This second time, it only took a few weeks instead of years.
I am out of restaurant work at this point, as it looks like I may be deadwood, but am going lodging, and look/want/think about opening a lodge/hostel/shelter, something in the industry undefined as of yet but I fully intend to spend years in paying jobs before doing so.
Last Seasonal Job:
housekeeper/laundry relief worker at Big Meadows Lodge in Shenandoah National Park
Favorite Seasonal Job:
probably Big Meadows
Dream Job:
probably to work at and sell 2 of these lodge type small businesses

Hi Charles,

I got your note about having trouble commenting. You mentioned in terms of South Pole experiences. Was it just with Terry's content or have you been unable to comment elsewhere as well?

Take a shot at posting something on the Cool Works Comment Wall or photos or Blogs and maybe we can figure this out.

Sorry for the hassle

Bill
