Hi Delightful, No, I haven't worked there since 2000 so I don't think we have met in person. Yes, if you have done that gig, it isn't something you're usually uncertain about. Another place I liked - but the money wasn't so good, was Pahaska Teepe...

I agree with Jon, its not about age, its about personality. If you are friendly you'll find friends. Do the stuff you love and it will show. Best of luck in your job quest.

I've been doing this for a few years and one of the first things I learned is that people who love to live this lifestyle don't care about your age. I'll party, camp, hike, play cards or watch a movie with anyone who's cool; and by "cool" I mean a...

Crater Lake isn't too bad, I've been there 5 summers. There are lots of people over 40 who work there. If you work in tourboat operations you have to hike a 1.1 mile dusty trail with a 800+ elevation change (attacked by mosquitoes in June&early July) every day. There are lots so of jobs in other places in the park. If you work at CL you'll be better off with a car, since depending on shuttles can be a real pain. Xanterra runs the operation from the White City Office and Diana Sizemeore is the HR Manager. They sending out work agreements now, so you'd better get your app in soon if interested.

good luck,

Joe Herzig

Hi delilah, i am 45 and i did my first working vacation last summer at Jackson Hole Wyoming. I know how you feel about possibly being out of place. But there were people there of all ages at the motel i worked at.....so u should fit in. And by the way, how did u get a job on a sailboat ??? That sounds so exciting and adventureous.......

Hi Delilah, I lived, and worked in Yosemite for 6 years. If you drive a bus, they are always looking for drivers, and for the most part many other positions as well. I worked in the retail division. Let me know if you would like any specific information about Yosemite.
