Big Fourth of July

Getting braced for the big day at Mt. Rushmore, the 3rd and 4th they expect somewhere between 20-30,000 people. While working in the gift shop that will seem like 3/4th of them will be kids. Just joking they come along with the money. I saw their display last year and it is well worth the effort to go see it. Best way if your not working there is to get a ticket for one of the many buses that will be taking people up. It will cost about $20 and is the only way to go. They take you to the front… Continue

Two weeks under my belt.

I have almost two full weeks under my belt working for Xanterra at Mt. Rushmore National Memorial Park.

The Xanterra staff could not be more helpful nor supportive. I am working with some really nice people both retired and those from other countries. I found out real quick that I have gotten out of shape in the year I have been retired. So it is taking some time to toughen up to the standing on my feet for 8 hours. But I do enjoy talking with people that come into the gift shop. I am… Continue

any other gay guys on cool works wanna share any of there adventures ?

A couple of winters ago, I went out to colorado and worked at a dude ranch. I just now returned from The Tetons and Yellowstone. I would like to go out there and work for a summer. I really wished I could go now, for this summer. I am afraid I am a lil late.
Are there any more gay guys out there that do this kind of thing. I am a professional waiter of 16 years and make a good living at it.
I think it would be cool to even eventally go to Alaska for a summer season and work.

Working at Signal Mountain Lodge?

I visited Yellowstone and Grand Tetons with friends at the end of May. The entire trip I was wondering how I could possibly work there, but in the back of my head was the dreaded thought that I've failed at getting any "cool jobs" that I've seen the young and tragically hip doing. During the trip I found something out there that appealed to me so much, that if I don't at least try to take this opportunity, I'll spend the rest of my life miserable and regretting it. I loved Signal Mountain Lodge… Continue

I woke up the next morning at the Anvile which was right across the street from were I had to catch the bus to Jenny Lake Lodge at 8:30am. In the rain and under a big fir tree I'm waiting… Continue

A Step Forward

I have lived in Washington all of my life and I love my state so much. For people I have met that live outside of Washington I am such a huge promoter of it I have totally managed to get some people to move here. Despite my deep love for Washington (or western washington I should say, sometimes I wonder if eastern Washington is an entirely different state), I still want to see the world and travel. I'm am pretty frightened for this summer, where I'll be working in Wyoming at my second job ever,… Continue

From the Montana campaign trail

Well, here it is. The day we've been working for. We'll never know if we were able to sway any of those undecideds we've talked to over the last two months, but we did our best, and in the process learned a lot about ourselves and a whole lot about Barack Obama and his vision and plan for our country. I hope, at the end of the day, or by mid-week, the decision will be made, and he'll be our nominee. I'm looking forward to his debates with McCain.

Today we'll do more Get Out the Vote.… Continue
