Christmas Time in Your Work Unit

Hello everyone. How is everyone doing this fine evening? If everyone is game, I'd like to have some kind of Christmas pictures contest. Either something that's been saved or something from Google Search. It would have to be your work unit all decorated for Christmas or some where that you have visited. Let's have some fun..... Maybe some kind of virtual prize.... Here's my picture.… Continue

Xanterra Drug Policy???

Xanterra speaking of one park inarticulately Death Valley Need's a drug Policy. 90% of the people that work at this are on drugs, sell drugs, do drugs at work or even sell drugs at work.

I believe this clearly an issue. I known each state has a different drug policy but for the sake of just being an better environment they should at least enforce some kind of drug/alcohol policy on the employees.

advice??

This is my first time ever considering seasonal work. I'm currently working as an Elementary Health and Phys. Ed. teacher in NJ, but am tired of the classroom experience and want to get into the outdoor ed. field. I figured this summer would be the perfect time for me to test the waters out and see if outdoor ed is for me or not. I'd really love to be around the Olympia State Park area in Washington. I've seen the Aramark jobs posted, but they aren't exactly the type of work i'm looking for.… Continue

From Nepal back to Salt Lake City

Greetings from Salt Lake City!

I have traveled safely back to this side of the world…and am enjoying having electricity, running water and a steady supply of hot water. My main struggle now is to adjust back to this time zone. I crash early and find myself awake in the wee hours of the morning.

Before leaving Kathmandu, Bel, Bishnu and I did a major whirlwind exploration of the valley. Last Sunday, we headed south and visited Dakshinkali and Pharping. Sangita’s friend Soni… Continue

Christmas - Ouray National Wildlife Refuge, UT

Many nights have come and gone since the last time I posted on here - Christmas last year I think. It has been a long journey to where I am now, but I am happy. I have a job I like, live on a national refuge with about 12,000 acres of ground and wildlife out my front door. Critter even likes it here. He has plenty of interesting smells and of course, there is a kitty in the house for him to drag around by its left ear.

After leaving GTLC and traveling back to Texas, it took me… Continue

Farewell Nepal!

Greetings from Kathmandu!

Which is both a greeting of relief and one of sadness. The relief comes from knowing I have safely made it back to the Kathmandu valley…which is not always guaranteed based on the political climate, road blocks, protests or accidents along the way. The sadness comes from having to leave Pokhara and all of the people who I hold dear. Each day, I ventured forth to one of the households who Indigenous Lenses supports to say good-bye. And I received words of… Continue

Great questions to ask at the end of an interview

I've been getting caught up on my HR and recruiting reading and stumbled upon this one from Clue Wagon written by 14 year HR vet Kerry Sandberg Scott about job interviewing. You know how at the end of the interview, the recruiter or hiring manager… Continue
