Brandy Dunn Desperately Seeking Winter Work Somewhere Warm For The Hubs and I

My husband and I would LOVE to find some winter-spring, or longer, work somewhere warm. I have tried Ocean Reef but they are not hiring. So I am hoping some one has some ideas. We will be needing somewhere to live also so staff housing is a must. We do not want to live in the middle of no where with very few employees. The middle of no where is fine if say 1,000 people work there. The Keys would be amazing, but we are open to almost anywhere. If someone knows of a job or knows someone that is hi… Continue

Dallas Insight on the seasonal world Part II

I love starting a new seasonal job and meeting all these new people....these new people who will be your friends, family, travel buddies, and maybe even lovers for the rest of this season...and probably your life. Some people have seen WAY more than you have and will be eager to share their experiences with you....and for some this will be their first time away from home and they will be soaking up everything you have to say like a roll of Bounty. You also get the opportunity to live in a place… Continue

Kari Quaas Chat Transcript- Health Insurance for the Seasonal Worker

Great chat tonight and also a tough one. Health insurance is just plain expensive and a touchy subject because it is a very personal thing. We covered some options, one's personal responsibility and being hopeful that someday, our government might figure something out that really works. The bottom line is that everyone needs it, but what exactly is a tricky thing. Here are some links I found when Googling health insurance. Individual Health Insurance Google #1… Continue

Dallas What I went through to start the seasonal world.....

I've been traveling for almost four years now and it seems that on every journey I take, I meet someone that's brand new to this type of life. I usually try to give that person as many tips as possible and try to make their first time an experience they won't forget. And every time I meet someone like this I think about my first time leaving home and why I really got into doing this. As I've said before my family owned a campground when I was growing up so I was lucky enough to have a childhood… Continue

Kari Quaas Outstanding in the Field

Last night we had the great fortune of attending one of the most interesting and scenic meals out in Carnation, WA. The dinner was put on by a group called Outstanding in the Field, founded by Jim Denevan. Outstanding in the Field, to quote their website, "is a roving culinary adventure - literally a restaurant without walls." The food is locally grown and is eaten at a very large table in a field. It was AWESOME!… Continue
