Living & Working in Great Places

First seasonal job as a "Jammer" in Glacier National Park...not a bad way to start!

This is gonna be short, I may add more later....

It was a great experience driving the famous red busses around Glacier all summer.

I will never forget it. Once things got moving, past trainging etc., the summer was alot

of fun. Good times, awesome hiking & views, & met some great people. That is what

it is all about. Yes there were some tough moments, but you get through it like anything else.

The worst part is what i feared going into this...housing. I can see how that can be a big

issue if you are not 19 years old and don't want to party every night. But it worked out as all us "jammers" based at Lake MacDonald had a barracks to ourselves. That made a huge difference.

Up next is Big Sky for ski season....

nothingdoing...hello! Driving the red busses in Glacier is awesome. Here's the quick low-down...you will have to have a Montana CDL Class C w/ Passenger endorsement. Your current CDL may be transferrable if it's an interstate license. Glacier Park Inc, the company you would work for, handles your Montana CDL. They will arrange your study materials and testing once you are hired and arrive at Glacier. It's preferred if you have experience driving in the mountains. The Going to the Sun Road in Glacier can be a bit intimidating to drive, especially in a Red Bus. You will recieve driving training but if you are not comfortable driving on extremeley narrow an winding roads in an oversized vehicle, this job is not for you. If you are interested they are already looking for drivers for this coming season. Go to www.glacierparkinc.com or www.gpihr.com and fill out an application. There are lots of snow coach tours in Yellowstone....try www.yellowstonesnowcoaches.com for starters.....GOOD LUCK and let me know if you apply to Glacier.

I would be interested in driving a Jammer in Glacier or a winter job driving a snow coach in Yellowstone. Any ideas? I am retiring and have a CDL so hopefully that may help. Thanks

Thanks for sharing Chris! So glad to hear that it went well.

Yep, let's chat about jobs in Washington or Alaska when you settle in.
