-50 in Fairbanks

Even colder today. We were ready to go at 8:30 but it wasn't to be. Took another look at 10:30 and it was worse. We're looking at some other options but basically everything is sketchy at 50 below. The mushers are moving out there but we haven't found a way, yet, to get out to warm up that Roadhouse for them. We figure the first mushers will get there on the 12th. Comment by Sue Puddy on February 11, 2008 at 8:40am: -50 ouch, I can't imagine, one exceptionally cold winter in NE OR we saw a long spell of -30s to about -40, things that should be should be flexible or flowable got hard, plugged in rigs wouldn't start, dry locks wouldn't unlock, snowmobiles wouldn't start, my dishcloth froze to the sink in my "warm" house, I can't imagine it at -50+ !!!! take care, sue
