Living & Working in Great Places

I am telling myself to not compare this park to Yellowstone. With a whole new adventure ahead of me I am looking forward to this summer. New park, new job, New state. In just a few short weeks I will be in a wonderous local that I am sure is breath taking. And the best part is unlike years past, no greyhound bus to have to get there. I live right in the same state several hours away and my family has decided to make a mini vacation of it so there going to drive me all the way to the north gate. I also like the idea that this is much more secluded then the south rim with less visitors and more chances to make all kinds of new friends. I imagine I would like the south rim, but comparring something like 1500 employees to around about 200, yep I will take the latter. Besides there is the question of the heat and weather also. I am in Tucson right now and it is in the 80's. Well thats there mild temperature as I know it gets up in the hundreds. I was told the south rim is much warmer and comparable to where I am at right now but the North rim is more my style. Much cooler at the beginning and end of the season. So it's all upwards from here.

Yellowstone since 1999? I started my seasonal career @ Canyon Lodge as bar supervisor... I have (until last year) lived in Tucson since basically 1980, except for a several year hiatus. I wonder if our paths have crossed.... Please let me know about the server potential @ the North. I may try it one day if the $$$ are there. Good luck... :0)

Hi Brenda,

So you are working at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon? Very cool. Two years ago, my husband and I did a bike trip with Western Spirit and camped in the Kaibab National Forest and rode there along the Rainbow Rim Trail. We did get to head into the park one day to check out the view and chill on the balcony of the inn and marvel. You're in an amazing place!

Enjoy it!

Kari
