Living & Working in Great Places

Hey Everyone!

So I am currently working in Vermont at the Basin Harbor Club as a Recreation Director and I am looking for advice on where to travel to/work next. I am finishing up here in late October and want to plan an international trip with my friend Abbey. We have thought about Thailand, India, Tanzania, Vietnam, New Zealand. We are looking for a place with unique cultures and natural surroundings as well as great outdoor activities. If you have any experience in the countries listed above or have been to a place not listed, I would love to hear about your experience and any advice you have about traveling there and what to see/do.

Thanks a bunch!

Cheers,
Erica

I've been thinking about doing a trip with a couple of volunteer organizations: i-to-i and Cross Cultural Solutions.

Cross-Cultural seems to have the stronger backing, but i-to-i has many more possibilities.

I already made my plans for this fall, so I'll be looking more seriously after I find where I'm going next summer and how much time I'll have.

I'd say New Zealand (South Island) is a good place to go. If you check out the New Zealand Immigration website ( http://www.immigration.govt.nz/ ) they have good information on "working holiday" and how to get a tourist visa that allows you to work in hospitality and agricultural jobs while travelling. Some people work "under the table" (generally called "woofing") but risk getting kicked out if discovered. I've been there 5 times and my 23 yr.old daughter has lived & worked on the South Island for 5 years and is about to get her Residency status.
