Well, not only Labor Day, I kind of like the way that title sounded. Today I was asked by several guests about working on Labor Day. Like it was some kind of big deal. The times 'normal' people have off of work is also the service industry's busiest time to work, both seasonal or not. I think that is kind of simple to understand, isn't it?
One summer, I was working with a new person to this kind of work. It was in our first couple of weeks when he asked if I had made any plans for the 4th of July weekend. I said, "Yeah, working my butt off." He looked at me a little funny and said that he came across this great camping place and I could go with him if I didn't have any plans. I asked him if he was insane, hey, I didn't know at that time he had only worked in offices and assembly lines.
For those of you about to start your first winter and you start before the middle of November: Don't count on having Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years off. Plan on being tired.
