Living & Working in Great Places
Thanks for being here! The six of us at CoolWorks welcome you and wish you success in finding your Jobs in Great Places®!
I had promised myself to make the sometimes painfull decision to leave the workplace this summer if it wasn't working out instead of trying to stick it out as I always have before. It was the right thing to do :0).... I was forced to choose between my initial employer and my second one last night.
I often wonder why an employer thinks that a seasonal employee will be as "trapped" as a 9-5er in a position when they are not being fair or honest. I am now in a much smaller and less fancy place, but earning more and contributing far more to the business. A word of advise to employers.... Give ALL pertinent facts (expected schedule, tip-out rates, etc.) to a prospective employee PRIOR to hiring them. Withholding information is the same thing as lying and my former employer found out last night that it will cost the employer his employee.... I make my decisions based on what I am told. If my prior employer had not withheld certain information from me, I would be in Nantucket @ the Rose & Crown instead of here in Juneau. Thankfully I have found this new job with a decent employer.... Just my thoughts for the day. Cheers all.... akscootr
