Living & Working in Great Places
Thanks for being here! The six of us at CoolWorks welcome you and wish you success in finding your Jobs in Great Places®!
I noticed that my managers already have the request book out for 2012. This is the book where we write in our vacation time or if we just want to take a day off to go on a Rec Center trip or have any doctor visits planned or for whatever we just want a personal day off. Well when I realized that the new book was out I immediately wrote in my "Last Day of Work", which will be Sunday, March 25th.This gives me a few days to hike and maybe go visit a friend that moved to Prescott,AZ before I fly out on March 30th.
That will be after my 5-year anniversary here @ GCSR and also after my birthday. I also get paid to have a day off for my birthday (which I will take on the 18th). I usually end up hiking on the day I take off for my birthday.
When the international students come to work here, they are usually here for about 90 days. So now I am in the same position they are in when they first get here. I always thought it was sorta funny how the students would do more in 3 months then most people do that live here for years. Not really sure how they save money to get home when they go on so many Rec Center trips or take time off work to hike everywhere. Anyways the one thing I need to really pay for before I leave here is the mule ride to the Abyss...which they usually give employees a discount for in Feb
For Christmas, someone in the HR dept, gave me a DVD called: ALASKA~a photographic journey. It's got some AMAZING photos from all over Alaska. Now as a kid you might have colored snow pictures with just a white crayon. But there is more to snow then just white...in this DVD, you can clearly see blue, green, shades of purple and the scenery looks sooo magical. I can't wait to see it all for myself....who knows, maybe I will learn how to make my own video.
Today is also payday with 6 more to go...LOL
