Beware of the Alaska Jobs with SUKAKPAK at the TOP OF THE WORLD

If you are interested in working for SUKAKPAK in Arctic Alaska beware of any promises or discussion of discretionary bonuses. They will NOT pay it. If you want to work up north and are interested in just barely over minimum wages..go for it..if you are trying to make a wage and you are planning on a bonus..BEWARE OF SUKAKPAK ....feel free to contact me through this page if you have questions. I worked for them for a full season and can give you the facts.

I have worked with Sukakpak since 1999, three seasons before they first started operating Coldfoot Camp in 2001. I've worked in all three of our camps since then and have had amazing experiences in each one. The fact that many of our coworkers return for multiple seasons shows that we are a great company to work with. Our philosophy when it comes to a coworkers season completion bonus is based on someone completing their designated season. We are even flexible with coworkers when it comes to end of the season dates. The bonus that this individual is referring to we no longer have - it is a performance based bonus. So, for example, if you regularly clock in for your Breakfast Cooking shift at 1:30am and instead take your shower at this time and come in to start work an hour or so later - then you might not get your performance based bonus.

I just had to get that out there because I find it extremely unfair that someone complained 5 years ago about not getting their performance bonus and blamed the company I work with for this happening. Also, it bothers me that this is still the first thing that comes up when you google Sukakpak! This decision was based on their performance, not our companies ethics.

Jerry's right. Sukakpak is perfectly reasonable and it's an amazing company. I recommend them exremely highly. Such great places, such great people. Pay was decent, food and housing free, lots of perks (river rafting? mountain climbing? the aurora borealis? flights to native villages and Barrow and Fairbanks? awesome), and yeah, I had no problem receiving my end of season bonus. Management is amazing and they somehow get great groups of employees. Seriously, you have to work hard to find things to complain about there.

I worked there with no problem and they were upfront with everything. Paid me my bonus even. They tell you right away if you quit or get let go that you dont get your bonus.

They are in Arctic Alaska on the Dalton Highway. They own three camps..Deadhorse Camp , Coldfoot Camp and Yukon Camp. They are good if you just want the Alaska experience and want to save a few bucks and have a good time..they are bad in that the wages are quite poor and they will not pay the bonus that they promise
