It's been awhile for a blog. Soon I'll do my 'good, bad, and ugly' for my season at Basin Harbor. I'll also do one a little more in depth of my time here at the Kay El Bar...kind of like last summer's 'day in the life' blogs.
Just a quick one for now. Numbers of guests are down this season. Our international guest counts have stayed the same, or maybe even grown, but the domestic traffic has slowed considerably. I should know the UK's geography better than I did.
I've been going more into town this season than last. I am a member of the fitness center located at the hospital and more frequent trips to the library, too.
Starting to look more seriously at opportunities for the summer. My 7-year plan has either helped or hindered the process, I'm not sure which. It will be a 'park' summer. That allows me to look at places inside or bordering a national or state park. The 'bordering' has left me some leeway. I'm leaning towards an Alaskan property, it's a number thing along with an I haven't been that way thing.
I'm liking what I see about Princess, especially Denali. But then their Mt. McKinley lodge looks good, too. I LOVE train travel...but can I stretch the border to include that opportunity? I do have some small questions concerning food service with Princess though. So maybe not. I've also been looking repeatedly at the Seward Windsong Lodge. I kind of remember an opportunity from last year, or was it the year before, of either a campsite or cabins near Denali...a small family-owned and operated business that sparked an interest...maybe they'll pop back soon.
