Another good chat.
Some summarized thoughts....
Do your best to work the entire season or, at the very least, finish your contract.
Perhaps consider giving your employer a thank you note telling them about how much you enjoyed working for them. This gives them a positive thought about you as you are leaving at the end of the season.
Share your ideas along the way. Don't wait until the "End of the Season" evaluation form or performance review.
Regarding Unemployment, Mike Thomason has offered to post a document that summarizes the federal tax info for working away from our tax 'home'. However, please note that he is NOT a tax accountant or lawyer. Please be sure to check with appropriate tax people for your particular tax situation.
A word to the wise-keep a detailed diary of all expenses incurred for your seasonal job.
Keep receipts from your seasonal job and travel to and from.
And, of course, one way to avoid unemployment is to find another. Check back on the
Cool Works site starting in July for winter employers to begin posting their job opportunities. There are lots of great places to work in the fall and winter.
