Christmas at Home in Texas one more time

Christmas in Texas - how I use to want to be home in Texas when I was living somewhere else... Been home since September and my left foot is getting itchy to travel once again.  Got that Class B CDL to drive a tour bus, but it seems the tour bus company I drove for during the summer doesn't want me any more... hmmm - maybe it is time to change professions and become a truck driver with a Class A.... onward TexasAnnie (sung to Onward Christian Soldiers).....

I ran into a problem with my blood pressure and then my daughter started crying that it wasn't safe - so I've put the truck driving on hold for now.  Funny thought, as a young woman of 18, I would go out with my older brother driving OTR and enjoyed it.  Thanks for your words though.

Ann,

Ken is absolutely right. I drove tractor-trailers over the road for CR England, Warner (box trailers and PGT Trucking (flatbed. I was an instructor for the CR England Driving school in Burlington, New Jersey. You make great money, but don't have a life to enjoy it. I still receive emails from various driving companies, but I have no desire to spend 4-6 weeks on the road living in my truck just to have 2 days off. It is great money, but you won't have time to enjoy. You will have no personal life unless it is calling people. You will be wasting money by having a place you rent or have a mortgage for because you aren't spending much time there yourself. Do what is best for you, but if you want to enjoy life and enjoy having relationships, don't do over the road driving.

You have a decision- value money, like traveling, don't mind having to be away from home for extended periods = drive over the road, value relationships and having a life, being able to sleep in your own bed every night = don't take an over the road driving job.

take it from someone that has spent half of his life in a truck. DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The $$  is pretty good but you miss out on "real life" gone all the time sucks! Yea, it's a living but I regret ever starting. No family, few friends. I don't even have time to ride my best girl ( my bike). For what? a $. I'm done with it soon. Hopefully this spring
