Thanks for being here! The six of us at CoolWorks welcome you and wish you success in finding your Jobs in Great Places®!

Once the bags are packed, a lot of decisions have already been made. The night before, you had to think through what to pack and what to leave behind. The morning of departure, you check again and again for the essentials: passport, wallet, journal, tickets, camera.

Your itinerary, chosen from among countless options, is at least partially settled by now. You’re going to _____, and as far as you’re concerned, all of _____ is waiting for you.

The road ahead may not be easy, but you have already overcome one big challenge as you carry those bags out the door.

Next stop, the airport or Greyhound Bus station. You take the city bus or the cab or the ride from your friend. One way or another, you will soon be deposited in front of the revolving doors that lead to the seasonal job world.

But first, you look around at the home you’re leaving behind one last time. When you return from the trip, what will have changed here? What will have changed with you?

And probably the biggest question on everyone's mind....how long will it take Aggie to realize that he over-packed?

ok Ann, Bill, Bren, Patty...Seeing as I ain't gonna make it to AK this Summer, I expect LOTS of pictures from all of u.

I have delayed my season in AK, but I would not of missed a Summer with my son for all the money & perks & benefits in the world.

Now for most of you, the new 2011 season will start in about a month. My season starts in  about 7 hours which is when I meet my son at the Greyhound bus station. I can still remember my first Summer here when I tried to see everything all in 1 day...everyday, and can't wait to show him all my favorite spots in this park.

Well as usual I get to excited at the idea of things. This time it was the idea of spending a Summer with my son here at GCSR. My son got other ideas...and went home after being here a week. Guess you could say life threw us both a curve-ball.

My best friend will also be going home (to NY) at the end of June after being here for 4 years.

Sunni, you have so much waiting for you to experience with your son!  And please don't forget to thank him from us for his service!  It's a gift we can never repay!  I know from personal experience that the family also does alot of giving, so thank you too!!

Will definitely send pictures Sunni, but you must send pictures also! Alaska will be there in future years, but this summer with your son...priceless. Enjoy.

BTW~aggie, my son got off the Greyhound bus after his cross-country trip with just 1 backpack. When we got back to GCSR, we went into the general store here to buy razors, toothpaste & deodorant. He bought a shirt while he has waiting in NYC to change buses.

The last time I lived with my son was in 2005 for about 4 months, then in 2006 I moved and he went into the Army. So this Summer will be a catching up time....and maybe for a 'bad' mom to start over and do something right with 1 of the kids.

over-packed?  Nah. I'll be thinking of all the stuff I forgot to bring and have to go buy at Walmart!   Have a great summer with your son Sunni ..... I hope to come meet you two fairly soon :-)

And plenty of pictures you will have!  I don't blame you for your decision - sort of a no brainer in any mom's mind!
