Living & Working in Great Places

Hey Folks -

Just thought I would share that I'm getting my mini-summer job, living in a dorm, community living, experience this week. I am up in Bellingham, Washington, on Western Washington University's campus, to be a Company Advisor (hereafter CA) for a bunch of high school students to teach them about business through the Washington Business Week program. Whew. By the way, I attended this camp as a student back in 1989. Where does the time go?

Anyhow, I checked into my dorm today and am pleasantly surprised that I have easy Internet via the university network, two beds and I thought my own bathroom, but that apparently may not be the case, since the other sliding door to the room next door to me is closed. It's like I've gone back in time 19 years, but also have advanced 19 years. It's wild. I bought a box of Kleenex for my bare room and feel like I should buy a plant just to dress it up. : ) I've taken over the second bed and scattered my stuff sufficiently. It should be a fun week.

I'll post pictures as they materialize, but I just wanted to share that I'm living a bit like you guys this week. Good on you for making it happen each summer and winter around the country. I've got a ton of respect for you.

Kari : )

I did the keynote address the last day of camp and my group gave me a little crocus plant, so at least for my last night in the dorm, it was dressed up with some flowers. They were awesome. :)

I'm heading to Mt. Rain ier in WA. for the next 2 mths. I'll be in Paradise , no kidding that's what it's called. Looks pretty primitive ,Has I'm not sure if there is cell service or internet available for employees. Has anyone been there?

Hee hee. For sure, you all are much tougher than I. So far so good though. I don't have a roommate, but the beds are a tad lacking. :)

Kari, last year at the North rim, we had no water period. Boulders fell on the pipes over the winter crushing the pipes leading up here so no showers, no toilets, so for a short time we got the good ole luxury of using two porta potty's for the whole location. It was intersting if not a bit smelly. Good luck and have lotsa fun.
