Living & Working in Great Places

Just a quick post to let you know that my dad has been in the hospital since Tuesday morning, 11/17. He had a heart attack and has been up and down with various issues ever since. Things were looking pretty good until yesterday, but now it seems that his labs are showing that he is losing blood somewhere. They'll be doing a scope of his gastric system this afternoon to see if this may be the cause.

I would appreciate your thoughts and prayers. It's been a tough year for Cool Works dads. If you are friends with me on Facebook, you can find more information there.

I haven't added a calendar event for the chat tomorrow, because I may or may not be at a computer. By all means though, please continue to congregate at that time (9pm Eastern / 6pm Pacific). It's nice that you can all help each other and be a good support system.

Thanks for your friendship and support.

Thanks both Kate and Rick! He is doing much better, thankfully.

I just wrote a post about being thankful, him and FMLA/leave on our HR blog. There is much to be grateful for this year.

Kari,
You are right Dads have been having a bad time lately.
My father-in-law, he lives with us, went down on Nov 4th, I had to do CPR and it has been a roller coaster since then. We think he is out of the woods now and the family, he had 10 kids, has gathered for Thanksgiving. One day at a time is how we are approaching this and coordinating care amoungest 4 doctors, Fun. Hope things get better for your Dad and you can enjoy Thanksgiving with him at home.

Thanks very much, Brenda and Janette. Exhaustion is a good word for it. Thankfully, he'll most likely be out of the hospital today.

Kari
Just wanted to add my regards and wishes for your Dad's speedy and full recovery. Having just experienced the death of my long term partner (at least not my Dad) I know the emotional and physical exhaustion that caring for a loved one in need can cause. I wish you both the best. HUGS - Janette

Thank you both, Scott and Richard. He is doing better this am because they are doing an endoscopy to see what might be bothering him. He should be awake in an hour. I really appreciate your thoughts. It's been a rough week, but I continue to have faith that he'll be okay. The blessing from yesterday is that finally all of his specialists are working together and have more of a plan.

Richard, it helped to hear that your daughter stayed with you in your time of need. I certainly hope to do the same for my dad.

Best,
Kari

Kari, your Dad looks like a great guy. My thoughts are with you and him. When I had heart problems a few years ago the one person who stayed by my side was my daughter Jennifer. She was at my bedside for the entire night right after my operation. It is something I will never forget. Blessings to you, another devoted daughter.
