Living & Working in Great Places
I have been here for 3 interesting months now.
I started out with a roommate ( and you know how well I love roommates)but a few weeks ago I got to move into my own room. You may or may not know, there is only 1 dorm at this location. Xanterra expects nobody to drink in the dorm but I have seen people do it. Now having everyone living in 1 dorm can be interesting. You see your coworkers often at night and days off. With everyone sharing a kitchen & tv room, it gives a kind of homey-feel to the place....whether we are eating, watching TV together or even playing board games together. Now with electronic gadgets so popular it was nice to see kids get excited to round-up a group of people and actually sit around a table to play a board game, about once a week.
Not having a car is a slight disadvantage but Xanterra does provide free trips into Rapid City for Walmart runs. I also got free trips to see Reptile Gardens & the Crazy Horse Memorial. Yesterday I had a fabulous time with 2 coworkers riding around Custer State Park (which was a bucket list item for this area). Got pics of bison, mountain goats and Sylvan Lake. Then last evening I went out to eat with 11 other coworkers in a little ghost town called "Rockerville"...for $1,100,000, you can buy the whole town.
